Lyon, capital of print? This was the feeling of the 14,107 visitors to the 10th edition of C!Print, which was held on 31 January, 1 and 2 February at Eurexpo. A colourful anniversary edition, that lived up to all its promises, with a rich line-up of 243 exhibitors, including 52 new ones, and an array of quality speakers. This year’s event, which was hailed by all the industry’s professionals, demonstrated the commitment of a community, confirming C!Print as one of the major events in the European graphic arts industry.

C!Print 2023 : an edition that meets the challenges of the sector’s

Perfectly cross-disciplinary, C!Print brought together the best of the print world for three days. The leaders in large format printing, small format marking and personalisation, signage, display and illuminated communication, finishing, printing media, 3D and web-to-print, and software publishing were all present. A total of 243 exhibitors, including 52 new ones.

This openness was reflected in the increased representation of new markets such as packaging and labels, whose dynamism was well reflected at the show. Visitors were also able to discover an unprecedented array of new printing equipment, and test new sustainable materials as well as innovative automation and digitalisation solutions.

A great dynamic, accompanied by a new baseline, Let’s Impact Tomorrow. A strong phrase that set the tone for this 10th edition, with a sector aware of the vital importance of committing to a true environmental transition and imagining more responsible modes of communication.

To accompany these changes and help visitors invest in the right technologies - those that will enable them to adapt to crises while remaining a creative force for their customers - the show invited more than a hundred speakers to come and express themselves in its different content areas. Energy sobriety, creative sobriety, AI, electronic printing, reindustrialisation, 3D printing, white ink, environmental transformation, eco-design, automation... were all subjects at the heart of the discussions.

Successfully launched at the last edition, the Software Village has taken on a new dimension in 2023. Dedicated to the (digital) transformation of companies, this space concentrates the expertise of exhibitors - software solution providers - but also a content zone offering a dense programme of pitches and masterclasses on key subjects such as the automation of production flows, web-to-print, cybersecurity or graphic design in the age of the digital revolution and new developments in artificial intelligence.

Launched in 2020, the C!Wrap, the official C!Print wrapping competition, held its third edition in 2023, with a new challenge offered to the best teams of wrappers of the moment. For three days, 6 teams of 6 professional installers competed live in a dedicated area, entirely set up for the occasion. Their mission: to cover, in 5 hours, several elements at their disposal, with a vehicle, a partition, a window and a 3D printed object. The 2023 theme revolved around the world of the car paddock. The holy of holies for the purists, who all played the game, to the great pleasure of the many visitors who came to see these performances! On the track: six 2015 Ford Mustangs, made available to the wrappers. The show was on!

A strong marker of the C!Print show, the Plug&Play creative workshop chose this year to let visitors discover the collection of a fictitious brand - Workaway - whose universe echoed the current trend of mobile workers. Laser engraving, embroidery, digital printing on objects, Direct-To-Film (DTF), sublimation... six brands of printing equipment for clothing and objects put forward their latest solutions. This was an opportunity to combine business with pleasure, by testing the latest marking techniques, while putting together a nice personalised teleworking kit. The online customisation platform, run by the company Emersya, partner of the workshop, recorded hundreds of orders per day!

On the last day, in the central area, a 100% live Screen Printing Workshop brought together experts in printing, creative papers, engraving and typography, around a unique project: the printing of an alphabet book, designed and produced by Atelier Continuum, in partnership with Mondi and Gravotech, and the kind collaboration of typographers Jean Alessandrini and Olivier Nineuil. No less than 23 different typefaces were used to create this unique document, which was printed directly at the fair, in a limited edition, under the curious and delighted eyes of the informed visitors who were able to have their work signed on the spot.
